Donwload and extract zip archive. Run setup.exe program. Installed MapView program requires .Net Framework 2.0 and visual c++ runtime libraries. Installation includes both of them.
After installation you must install some maps or you must have connection to Internet, otherwise program immediately terminates after warning message.
Download and extract contents of zip archive. Transfer these files to your PDA and run installation by running PocketSetup.CAB file. Before you start installed MapViewPocket firstly, you must install some maps. We provide test map of Czech republic as you see above in the table, but this map has very bad quality and is intended for demonstration purposes only. Better way is to obtain some sub-map from your desktop version and transfer it to your PDA.
If you'd like to use GPS device with your PDA you must properly configure it and configure MapView as well. In MapView you must specify correct COM port for GPS and its baud rate. GPS must be switched to NMEA communication protocol. For GPS configuration we recommended SirfTech software (in case you have SiRF Star chipset in your GPS, but it is suitable for other GPS devices in NMEA mode).
This map has only demostration purpose and covers area of the Czech republic. It is atlas type of map not topographical. After you download zip archive extract contents and upload it to your PDA. In the archive is two extra files datums.txt and ellipsoids.txt . These files contains information about known ellipsoids and map datums and is very important have these files in the root map folder.
This is absolutely cool feature. When you check in menu "View" "Show active tracks" item you will see all tracks which you have stored in TracksStorage directory of your MapView root directory. By activating this function you can see where you have been since you started to log trips with GPS. To enable you real test of this feature download above TracksStorage.zip file and extract content to the TracksStorage subdir of the MapView root directory and run MapView.
This is only for your convenience. Before you install MapViewPocket for PDA you must already had installed .Net Compact Framework 2.0 in your PDA. If you haven't installed it, you can use link to Microsoft download page above and install it to your PDA.
It is recommended to install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 with Service Pack 1 and it is needed if you plan to connect to GPS via Bluetooth.
